Sermon Series: Divine Union

Message Title: God the Spirit

Message Summary: This powerful exploration of the Holy Spirit challenges us to move beyond viewing the third person of the Trinity as a forgotten God or mere spiritual force. Drawing from Jesus' conversation with Nicodemus in John 3, we're invited to understand the Holy Spirit not as something we control, but as the divine wind that blows wherever it pleases—unpredictable, sovereign, and life-giving. The message confronts our tendency to either ignore the Spirit entirely out of fear of losing control, or to obsess over spiritual gifts while neglecting the fruit of the Spirit. We're reminded that love, joy, peace, and patience are the true evidence of the Spirit's presence, not just miraculous manifestations. The Holy Spirit isn't our personal toolkit for manipulating reality to fit our agenda; rather, He is the advocate who walks alongside us, teaching us truth, reminding us of Christ's words, and convicting the world of sin and righteousness. This isn't about religious performance or checking boxes—it's about relationship. When we empty ourselves and yield control, the Holy Spirit fills us and points us consistently toward Jesus. The question we must wrestle with is whether we're truly allowing the Spirit to lead, or if we're justifying our own dysfunction and calling it spiritual. True union with the Trinity transforms how we live, love, and serve others.
